What is the State Outreach Project? |
Each year the Montana Association of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) establishes a State Outreach Project with a partner organization to reach to the community and help work towards a cause. State Executive Council (SEC) members and other Montana FCCLA staff members discuss and present ways MT FCCLA and another organization can work together on a State Outreach Project.
Montana FCCLA's State Outreach Project is a state community service activity that gives our chapters/members the opportunity to make a united impact concerning a need that the State Executive Council decides to address. Participation from FCCLA members is optional. When chapters/members choose to participate, each chapter/member works within their local chapters and members to fundraise and collect items from schools and communities through service. The goal of this project is to have each student get actively involved in making a difference by uniting together with the State Outreach Project. Montana FCCLA wants members to see and know firsthand that even a small effort made by many can have a huge and positive impact on others.
The Montana FCCLA State Outreach Project follows the model of the National Outreach Project from National FCCLA. National FCCLA determines a project on the national level each year, and then Montana FCCLA determines if the choice fits our state's needs. Since fundraising is one aspect of the National Outreach, Montana FCCLA feels strongly any fundraising should stay local. This means that some years, the Montana FCCLA State Outreach Project may vary from the National Outreach Project due to lack of state affiliations based on the chosen project.

2011 - 2012 Partner Organization |
| This year, the Montana FCCLA organization is proud to be partnering with the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Montana. The Make-A-Wish Foundation® is an international non-profit organization that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. The local organization serves all 56 counties in Montana and granted its first wish in 1987. Since then, nearly 300 wishes have been granted with the help of more than 50 volunteers. The Foundation encourages the entire family to be part of the wish experience, knowing that parents and siblings need magic just as much as the wish child. Throughout the year, the chapter also provides wish families with invitations to special events and free admission to local activities. The average cost of a wish is $3,900. Montana FCCLA has set a goal for our organization to raise $12,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Montana. If each member raised just $10, we would meet and exceed our goal. For more information on how to get your local FCCLA chapter involved, please click on the link below, check out the Talk of the State newsletters, contact your District President, or visit the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Montana's website at http://www.montana.wish.org.
